The rookie pitcher of Major League Baseball, Hopper Gibson (played by Simmons), gradually loses control of his pitching skills and is forced to be sent down to the minor leagues. Hopper, through his communication with the sports psychologist Mobley (played by Giamati), pours out his resentment towards his domineering father (played by Hawk).
