The story tells of Jiang Yiwu, a young man from Lizhou, who was studying in Changde. Due to his participation in the Huaxing Society uprising led by Huang Xing, he was expelled from school and wanted by the authorities. While evading the arrest of the authorities, he remained true to his revolutionary intentions and successively participated in a series of revolutionary activities such as the Hongjiang Uprising and the Pingliu-Li Uprising. He concluded that the success of a revolution could not rely on gangs in the underworld but on holding the gun. Thus, he sneaked into the new army in Hubei and secretly established a revolutionary group called "Literature Society", creatively building the revolutionary organization on the basis of a company. It laid a solid organizational foundation for the Wuchang Uprising. Jiang Yiwu was elected as the chief commander and successfully led the Wuchang Uprising, eventually overthrowing the feudal rule of the Qing Dynasty and achieving a great victory in the Xinhai Revolution.[Collapse]
