In 1909, the Danish Arctic expedition led by Captain Enel Mikkelsen (played by Nikolai Kost-Waldow) attempted to refute the United States' claim over the northeastern part of Greenland. The reason for this dispute was that it was assumed at that time that Greenland was composed of two islands. Mikson left the crew on board and embarked on a journey across the ice with the inexperienced crew member, Ive Iverson (played by Joe Cole). The two successfully found evidence that Greenland was an island, but it took them longer to return to the ship and the difficulties they faced exceeded their imagination. Under extreme hunger, fatigue and the attack of polar bears, they finally reached the hull, only to find that their ship had been damaged and the camp had been abandoned. They, who hope to be rescued, must now fight for survival. As time went by, their grasp of reality began to weaken, and a sense of distrust and paranoia kept growing in their hearts, becoming dangerous factors that prevented them from fighting for survival. "Polar Survival" is adapted from a true story and tells of the astonishing power brought by friendship, love and mutual support.[Collapse]
