The Southern Song Dynasty was a period when it was hard to distinguish between humans and demons. The monk Fahai (played by Zhao Wenzhuo) subjuted demons everywhere and also disturbed the White and Green snakes who were practicing at the bottom of West Lake. Qing (played by Maggie Cheung) was once saved by Bai (played by Brigitte Lin), and they thus called each other sisters. The two sisters, lured by the temptation, pretended to be adults and lived among the common people. Bai even married the honest scholar Xu Xian.
