This realistic film highlights the estrangement and loneliness between people. John Kasavitz is both a character actor and a successful director. This independently produced film took eight months to shoot, and the $50,000 it cost was saved up when he was an actor. To save costs, he used a 16mm camera to shoot impromptu in a borrowed civilian house and then reprinted the film into a 35mm one in his own garage. It took him a full three years to find an agency for distribution, but after its release, it received high praise and was nominated for the Academy Awards for Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor and Actress. This film depicts a husband, Richard, flirting with a prostitute outside, while his wife, Maria, shares a bed with a homeless man. When the husband discovers his wife's infidelity, Richard scolds her harshly, and Maria declares to him that their relationship is completely over.[Collapse]
