John (played by Owen Wilson) and Jenny (played by Jennifer Aniston) are a couple who are immersed in happiness. Shortly after their marriage, they move to live on the West Palm Coast of Florida and each find satisfactory jobs in the journalism industry. According to the traditional pattern, this family that has been on the right track can now welcome the arrival of a new member. However, it seems that the Johanes are not ready for this. On the suggestion of their friend Sabinstein (played by Eric Dane), John decides to give his wife a yellow Labrador as a practice before raising a child. This little fellow named Marley thus entered John's home. It was mischievous and tireless, causing a lot of trouble for the John couple, but at the same time, it became an indispensable member of the family...
