Kiyoshi Shigematsu's novel "Kite" will be adapted into a film for the first time. The novel once won the "Top Choice of the Most Touching Works in Kadokawa Bunko". The film will be directed by Keihisa Saito (from "The Story of Heaven"), with Hiroshi Abe and Kaoru Kitamura (from "The Nobunaga") playing father and son. The story takes place in Japan in the 1980s. Yasuo Ichikawa is an employee working at a freight company. His wife, Misako Ichikawa, has just given birth to their son, Asahi. However, an accident costs Misako her life.
