Indio (played by Gian Maria Volonte) is a vicious wanted criminal. He and his gang commit crimes repeatedly. He has a pocket watch. Before each massacre, he would look at it and see a photo of a woman on it. Bounty hunter Manco (played by Clint Eastwood) is chasing Indio, while another bounty hunter Colonel Douglas Mortimer (played by Lee Van Cleef) is also chasing the same target. At first, both of them found fault with each other, but later they decided to hunt down Indio together. When the two learned that Indio was planning to rob the bank, they devised a plan to have Monco join Indio's team and then work together with Mortimer from the inside out.
